Empire Genomics FISH ProbesEmpire Genomics designs, manufactures and distributes more than one million clinical and custom labeled molecular probes, enabling hundreds of leading global clinical laboratories, biotechnology organizations and academic institutions to advance biomarker research, accelerate diagnoses and improve personalized treatment options for patients battling cancer and other complex diseases. The company was founded in 2006 by Norma J. Nowak, PhD, a prominent member of the Human Genome Project, to utilize innovative research started at the prestigious Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. The comprehensive product portfolio includes Fluorescence in Situ Hybridization (FISH) and Chromogenic in Situ Hybridization (CISH) probes that are designed and optimized for specific diseases, genes, and/or regions across the entire human or mouse genomes. Copy Number Variation FISH Probes Copy Number Variation probes are designed to hybridize to a precise gene location, and are used to identify gene deletions and amplifications. With access to the entire RP11 BAC library, we can design a probe to detect virtually any human gene. Probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads, and are available in both single and dual colors. Each kit contains 20 tests and normally ships within 1-3 weeks. Break Apart FISH Probes Break-apart probes are designed to detect translocations, the most common genetic abnormality exhibited in cancer cells. With new gene rearrangements being continuously discovered, and their oncogenic effects elucidated, translocations have become essential cancer biomarkers. Our dual-colored break-apart FISH probes have helped thousands of researchers quickly and reliably track gene translocations. They’re designed to flank either side of a gene, so that in the event of a translocation, the twocolors will split. Each kit contains 20 tests and normally ships within 1-3 weeks. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads. These products are for research useonly (RUO) and are not for use in diagnostic procedures. Gene Fusion FISH Probes Fusions occur when two normally separated genes are joined, which can contribute to cancer development in a few different ways. The translocated gene may fuse to a promoter, ramping up expression of the gene. Fusions can alsocreate a chimeric gene that produces a novel hybrid protein with oncogenic potential. Lastly, a fusion can lead to tumorigenesis when it results in the truncation of a tumor suppressor gene. Fusion probes contain 2 colors, each designed to hybridize to its respective gene. While a normal cell will display the colors as separate signals, a cell that has the fusion will show the signals less than one signal widthapart. Each kit contains 20 tests and normally ships within 1-3 weeks. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads. These products are for research use only (RUO)and are not for use in diagnostic procedures. Dual Color Probes Our dual color FISH probes allow for the detection of two genetic loci in a single sample, with a different color dye assigned to each probe. This is useful for cases where multiple genes or regions need to be identified, including when testing for gene translocations and fusions: translocations will result in splitting of the two colors, while fusions will show them merged into a single signal. A dual color mix can also serve as a control/CNV combination, with the control localizing to the same chromosome as the CNV probe to verify that it’s hybridized to the correct locus. Chromosome Control Probes Control probes are designed to hybridize near the centromeric region of a chromosome. Control probes are useful for both chromosome enumeration and verifying that gene-specific probes have hybridized to the correct chromosome. Control probes come labeled in green by default, but can be customized to meet your needs. Kits come in sets of 10 and normally ship within 1-3 weeks. When ordered with a gene specific probe or BAC library probe, control probes are packaged separately, but can be mixed upon request. Probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads. These products are for research use only (RUO) and are not for use in diagnostic procedures. Custom FISH Probes With access to the entire RP11 BAC library, Empire Genomics is capable of developing custom fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) probes. Custom FISH probes can contain up to four fluorescent dyes and can be produced in lot sizes that meet your specific requirements. Depending on the complexity of your design and the number of BAC clones required, turn around time typically ranges from 7-14 business days. |
